The Museum of the Kysuce Village in Vychylovka

Geographical area

The Museum of the Kysuce Village is an extended ethnographic open-air exhibition of the Kysuce Museum in Čadca.  It is situated in the Chmúra Valley in the part called Vychylovka. The foundation stone of the museum was laid in 1974. The main objective was to save the most valuable monuments of folk architecture of the villages of Riečnica and Harvelka that had to be evacuated due to the dam construction in Nová Bystrica. The museum´s main attraction is a unique technical monument – a narrow-gauge railway, which used to connect the Kysuca and Orava regions.
